Jake Perkins started his driving career in January
of 2005. Jake first attended a go kart race at Fruitland park in late 2004 at which time he said he wanted to do go racing, of course his parents initially refused...

Jake pressed on with his racing requests and in January 2005 Jake rode in a friends kart for the first time. Jake proclaimed that it was the best day of his life. He only drove the kart in the large circular driveway, but he loved it.

Dad, now on board with the racing idea, purchased Jake a used Prowler racing chassis and added Radical racing engine and it all began from there.

Racers Ken Kirkpatrick, Brian Schroeder and Pat Smith all became friends of Jake and his family, giving him support and advice at the track. All three guys have sons who race weekly and it was Ken who gave Jake the nickname "No Brake" Jake.

The first Saturday in February 2005 was Jake's first race and he finished 4th out of ten. Two weeks later Jake won his first race in the novice class at Fruitland Park, Florida and from there, Jake hasn't looked back going on to win most of the races in the novice class that season and finished it off by winning the Championship that same year.

Jake was born on Oct. 15, 1996 in Ocala, Fl. He lives in Ocala and just completed the 4th grade at Grace Episcopal Day School. He has attended Grace since he was 3 years old where he is a straight A student. He has a 9 year old sister, Sarah who also attends Grace.

Sarah is a huge help to Jake's racing efforts, lending a hand at home prepping the chassis, preparing the support trailer to being a big part of the team at the track as well.

Without Sarah's help, Jake couldn't possibly be as successful as he has been!

Jake enjoys playing soccer (for 5 years), tennis (is coached by coach John at the Country Club of Ocala for the last 4 years), basketball, and piano.

Jake has been playing the piano for the last 6 years and he is currently working on a concerto piece which he will be performing this fall in the Junior District Music competition. He also plays clarinet in the school band, of course he also likes his playstation!

Jake also has a strong family supporting his racing efforts, his Mother Cindy & Father Carter, do much more than offer support and financial assistance each week.

Dad has become quite the "wrench" over the last couple years and with his easy going style, he's able to let Jake perform at the top levels, while still having fun racing each week.

Mom, does a little of everything, like most racing moms, scoring, feeding the family and helping to handle the website's needs with the webmaster.

Jake quickly picked up on the need to be able to do race interviews, news stories and dealing with motorsports press.

Jake has the ability to make precise comments on his performance, he can represent any sponsor with a professional attitude and demeanor -something many "Big time" racers of today struggle with.

Today sponsors look for more than just driving skills and natural talent, they also look for communication skills, personality and the way a driver carries him or herself. At a young age those skill were evident in Jake. Many race fans who've met Jake at the track come away impressed with this fine young man.

Jake is an avid Nextel cup fan and has met Jimmy Johnson, Casey Mears, Tony Stewart, and Jeremy Mayfield.

Jeff Gordon is his main driver he "roots" for each week. Jake loves going to Daytona for the Pepsi 400 and the Daytona 500. Jake can recite statistics on every driver. He loves watching races and one day hopes to be a Nextel Cup driver.

Jake early on in his career understood the importance of representing sponsors as well as himself in the most professional manner.

During his karting days, he was often called upon to use those communication skills by sponsors as well as the World Karting Association.
